Axiliad III or volunteers versus bushes

mdsc_0129

The plan for another volunteers camp, which took place on 22nd and 23rd September, was straightforward: to cut down as much as possible of the overgrowth in the old coal storage. We made a good use of all available in the Shed saws, shears and chainsaws. For 2 days 20 volunteers removed most of the unwanted plants. It was also possible thanks to the experience of some of the participants – our colleagues from Żuławska Commuters Railway from Nowy Dwór Gdański and Upper Silesia Narrow-gauge Railway from Bytom.

We intend to continue the work on the next camp, which will take place on 6th and 7th October.

mdsc_3881

On 15th and 16th September we organized a special Open Day for the guests of the 41st Festival of Flowers, Fruits and Vegetables in Skierniewice. We used this opportunity to celebrate the 26th European Days of Heritage as well.

The guided tours were led by the guides dressed in the historical railway uniforms. 1102 tourists that decided to visit us on that day had the opportunity to see the most of our collection stored in the main roundhouse.

Collection for the transport of a new exhibit

received_1180359065439949

With each new vehicle in our collection we tend to say that this is the last one. However, how can you decline taking care of new exhibit when someone gives it for free and even offers to renovate it?

So is the story of class SR71-04 maintenance of way vehicle owned by PKP Energetyka S.A. It is a unique machine, probably one of the oldest of its class and the only one going to museum. We signed the agreement to take over the vehicle and currently it is being repainted by its owner. The only (and as much) expense on our side is to transport the vehicle to Skierniewice when it will be ready on 6th October. Unfortunately, our budget was fully devoted for the building repairs, so once again we address You, fans and supporters of PARE, to help us collect the money for this cause – 8000 PLN.

We decided to launch another crowd-funding campaign through the portal zrzutka.pl. You can participate in funding under the below link in exchange for small gifts.

https://zrzutka.pl/csanmv

The collected amount will cover the heavy-haulage transport by road (the vehicle cannot travel on its own on tracks) from Dąbrowa Górnicza Strzemieszyce to Skierniewice. Additionally, small amount will cover the operational fees of the crowd-funding and distribution of gifts. Members and Volunteers of PARE will be responsible for preparation of the transport, loading and unloading carrying out those activities for free.

Thank you for supporting us.
