We would like to invite you to the Open Day in Engine Shed, which will take place on Saturday, 5th September from 11AM to 3PM. Visiting groups, led by a guide dressed in a historical railway uniform, will have the opportunity to learn of the history of vehicles in our collection and the Shed itself. This year, our guests can enjoy the longer sightseeing route inside the biggest building in the Shed’s complex – the roundhouse from 1862-1942. Except the collection of historical rolling stock, our usual exhibitions are also opened to the visitors:

• steam engines maintenance equipment,
• main workshop with old but still functioning machines,
• railway forge with original equipment,
• interactive exhibition of signaling and traffic safety equipment.

Guided tours will start at 11AM, 12AM, 1PM and 2PM.

Tired and hungry visitors can taste delicious grilled dishes at the stand of Atmosfera pizza house.

The Topex Group – the leader in the distribution of hand and power tools once again positively responded to our call for support. The company donated to us an inverter welder from the “Graphite” line of products. This new device will speed up the metal jobs by the rolling stock and other works in the shed. It will also help to develop the welding skills of our volunteers.  We would like to say big thanks for the support!

As in the previous year, we took part on 1^st August in the ceremony by the monument commemorating the Pawiak’s prisoners, executed at the Skierniewice railway station during the end of Second World War. Our delegation, along the representatives of City Council, veterans, scouts, members of reconstruction group 26^th Infantry Division and citizens of Skierniewice, put a symbolic bunch of flowers under the monument.

The jury session of the 6^th National Satirical Competition „Manufacture of Satire” took place on 30^th June 2015 in Gallery “Resursa” in Żyrardów. More than 60 works by 30 different authors have been submitted to the contest, which topic was the 170^th anniversary of opening of Warsaw-Vienna Railroad. PARE was one of the partners of this event and therefore, we would like to publish the official results of the contest, which were first announced by Mrs. Elżbieta Laskowska, head of the Museum of Caricature in Warsaw:

What a hot day! First Summer Open Day in the Shed (4^th July) took place under the scorching heat, therefore majority of the sightseeing was conducted inside the pleasantly cool interiors of roundhouse and exhibition of signaling equipment. Nevertheless, 202 guests decided to visit us despite the heat.

We would like to inform, that according to the legal obligations, we have published the reports regarding the activity of the Association in 2014. The reports, already approved by the PARE’s Main Audit Committee, are available via the database of the Ministry of Labor or at the 1% page of our website (documents in Polish only).3

We are happy to report, that in mid-June we were invited to cooperate in the 4^th National Satirical Competition „Manufacture of Satire”. The competition is organized annually by the City of Żyrardów. The aim of the event is to popularize the unique, industrial history of the city through the art of satirical cartoons. It is send to the professional cartoonists as well as the students of art schools. The exhibition of the finalists works is presented also outside Żyrardów, visiting selected cities, to the applause of the guests.

This year’s presence of or Association among the partners of the competition is not a coincidence – this time the main topic of the competition is railway. The originators of the event decided to celebrate in this way the 170^th anniversary of Warsaw-Vienna Railroad and underline railway’s significance to the development of the city and its industry. The topic of the works can range from past, present and future of the railway, rolling stock, stations, travel by rail etc. More detailed rules of the competition are published on the official website of the event. We hope that the upcoming after-competition exhibition will arrive also at our Shed.
